Lasting News Network

Editorial policy

Lasting News Network aims to publish clear, accurate and independent writing about rural heritage and countryside knowledge. We separate established information from interpretation, give readers enough context to follow a subject and correct material errors when they are brought to our attention.

Accuracy and context

We check names, dates, definitions and claims against appropriate material before publication, and take care not to make a local custom sound universal. Where accounts differ or details remain uncertain, we say so rather than smoothing away the distinction. Our features are for general interest and do not replace specialist guidance or local knowledge.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for their relevance to readers and the publication's subject, not to secure favourable treatment for a person, product or organisation. We do not accept payment in exchange for an editorial conclusion. Contributors should disclose interests that could reasonably affect how their work is read.

Corrections

Readers may raise a possible error through the Contact page. We review specific correction requests, check the point and amend a published piece when warranted. When a material correction is made, we make the change clear to readers rather than silently changing the substance.

Partnerships and illustrations

Paid or otherwise supported material is clearly labelled as partner content and kept distinct from independent editorial work. Illustrations may be generated with AI; any such illustration is labelled so readers can distinguish it from documentary imagery. Images are not presented as evidence of a real event or place unless their source and purpose support that use.

Our bearing

The old ways are worth looking at closely

Rural knowledge lives in names, habits and practical details as well as in grand histories. We read those details with interest, while leaving room for change and difference.
